House Rules

We want you to enjoy your stay at Cabot Cottage so we don’t have a ton of rules, but we do expect all guests and visitors to be respectful and honest.

Check In / Out

Check-in is anytime after 3 pm.  Check-out is by 10 am.

Noise

While you are on vacation, our neighbours likely have to get up and go to work in the morning.  Please avoid excessive late-night noise.  Closing the garage door after 11 pm can make a big difference.

Security

Please ensure the doors are closed and locked on the cottage and the garage when nobody from your group is present. A code will be provided so that all guests can have access as needed.

Garbage and Recycling

There are garbage and recycling containers in the kitchen and the garage.  If these fill up, please place the full bags in the bin by the street.  There are additional bags in the laundry room.

Pets

Cabot Cottage is pet friendly as long as you clean up after them.

Bonfires

We have provided firewood for your enjoyment.  Fires are allowed in the firepit only, not in the indoor stove. You must adhere to all local burning requirements which in Nova Scotia, includes checking daily for permission to burn.  Having a campfire during a fire ban may result in severe fines and even prosecution by local authorities.

It is your responsibility to check https://novascotia.ca/burnsafe/ or call 1-855-564-2876 to hear the daily recorded message. Bonfires must not be left unattended, especially at night’s end.  There is a bucket in the laundry room to douse a fire with water.

Inclement Weather

If rain is expected, please cover the patio furniture, BBQ and put the cornhole boards / bags in the garage.

Smoking

There is no smoking / vaping in the cottage.  Cigarette butts/cigars must be appropriately disposed of in the ashtrays provided in the garage or the containers on the front and back deck, and NOT thrown on the property grounds.

Damages and Breakages

We understand that accidents happen and ask that you report them to us as soon as possible.  Being honest and letting us know immediately means we can arrange for the repairs/replacement ahead of the next guest’s arrival or at least notify them.  Excessive or intentional damages will be deducted from the security deposit.

Emergency Contacts

We encourage open and honest communication with all our guests.  Please let us know if something unexpected happens and we will do our best to resolve it asap.
